Building Recertification by Eastern Engineering Group
Eastern Engineering Group played a pivotal role in the Banyan Bowl project by undertaking the 40-Year Recertification for the 32,668 square feet theater and the two-story parking garage building. Our scope of work involved a comprehensive assessment that identified critical areas requiring attention. Recommendations included addressing corrosion issues in steel components, repairing anchor bolts, and fixing aluminum railings, among other essential repairs.
Did you know that the 40 Year Recertification process in Miami and Broward County underwent significant changes in 2022? Rather than waiting until the 40-year mark, buildings over 30 years old are now required to undergo inspections every 10 years thereafter. For structures three stories or higher located within three miles of the coastline, recertification kicks in at the 25-year mark. This process involves thorough examinations conducted by licensed engineers or architects, covering critical aspects such as structural components, electrical systems, and more. These proactive measures aim to ensure ongoing safety and compliance, reflecting a commitment to the longevity and resilience of the region’s buildings.
